Geyserless Hot Showers |
|
|
With an aim to dispense with costly geysers and avoiding botheration of their installation, engineers have invented geyser-less hot showers which can discharge water at desired temperature. Electrically operated, these showers are declared fully safe as a grounding system is provided with them that sends the leakage current, if any, to the ground and the users remains safe from electric shock. Thermoplastic used for the manufacture of these showers is an insulating material and allows no current to pass through it. Thermoplastic can also withstand high temperatures and there is no chance of its getting rusted.
An electric hot shower needs 4400 watts or more of power, to be switched on for 10 minutes before use. The heating coil comes on only when water is released through the shower. Overall energy consumption works out to be one half of that consumed by a geyser of 1500 Watts. These showers are provided with multi-temperature controls to supply hot water or lukewarm water as per requirement of the consumer. There is provision of a residue blocking net in these showers. This net doesn’t allow any residue to enter the showers and can be easily detached and cleaned whenever required.
The number of water jets from the shower is 100 or so, varying for different models. A turbo pressurizer increases volume and pressure of water. It is quite useful wherever the water supply pressure is low. Thus unlike normal showers, even water volume and pressure can be varied. The cost of these showers varies from Rs.2500 to Rs.10000.00 depending upon the model chosen. Some models have hand shower and spiral hose arrangement also. When the hand shower is in use, the main jet doesn’t operate.
Geyser-less electric hot showers can provide a satisfying shower by using just 4 litres of water per minute. This results in saving of water. These showers have arrived in India after their trial and use in about 40 countries. Available in different colors, the showers are using silver alloy elements for better efficiency.
Whenever any electrically operated appliance is deployed for making use of water, the prime most factor that weighs on the mind of user is the safety from an electric shock. Though Lorenzetti, the Brazilian firm that has brought out these showers guarantees these to be fully safe against electric shock, this one factor will decide the future use of these showers in India. Power consumption will remain another concern. If tested safe and economical, these elegant looking showers can surely enter Indian bathrooms and replace the geysers in the time to come.

Tip of the Moment
Always allow sufficient time to elapse before applying second coat of paint. Method to check it is that if you rub sand paper on first coat, no paint should come off with it.
