A civil engineer by profession, Jagvir Goyal is the author of a number of books and technical papers. Numerous articles written by him on technical subjects are published in many periodicals including The Tribune, a reputed newspaper of North India, Construction World, published monthly from Mumbai and Gulf, New Building Materials & Construction World, published from New Delhi, Construction Journal of India, published from Mumbai, Power Today & Equipment India published from Mumbai and many more publications. His weekly column, ‘Racy Building Strategies’ published in Hindustan Times (Chandigarh edition) since May, 2006 evoked tremendous response from the people of northern region. 'Ground Realty' his fortnightly column on construction is running in The Tribune since 2006 and is extremely popular. His monthly features on 'Construction Equipment' in Construction World, continuing since 2006 are widely read and appreciated. Er. Goyal has presented a number of technical papers in National and International conferences on various subjects related to civil engineering, environment, conservative use of cement, safety in construction sector and others. He is recipient of many letters of appreciation issued to him by individuals and organizations for his continuous work in his field. He now holds 31 years’ work experience in construction of residential and non residential buildings, projects, high rise industrial structures, quality control of civil engineering works, maintenance of residential colonies and planning and formulation of housing schemes.
Er. Goyal was awarded by PSEB in 1995 for ‘outstanding contribution in the field of civil engineering’. In 2005, Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, Patiala conferred the prestigious ‘Distinguished Alumnus award 2005’ upon him. World famous Marquis Who’s Who, USA have included his biography in ‘Marquis Who’s Who in the World’, Marquis Who’s Who in Asia’ and ‘Marquis Who’s Who in Science and Engineering’. Now located in North India and working as Deputy Chief Engineer, Civil, Er. Goyal continues his efforts to present the intricacies of science and civil engineering to the people of the country in a simplified and understandable manner. Jagvir Goyal has worked on various thermal projects for the construction of tall RCC Chimneys and Large diameter natural draught cooling towers. His first book, ‘RCC Structure Construction through Slip-forming’ was published by CBS publishers and distributors, New Delhi in 1992 followed by his second voluminous book, ‘Expeditious Construction of tall RCC Chimneys’ in 1994. In 1995, his first literary book, 'The Forlorn Phoenix', a 500 page English novel was published. Writing in Hindi is his favorite pastime. He has written many books in Hindi and English and has also worked towards science popularization by working on Science crosswords, Engineering crosswords and Medical crosswords published regularly in different magazines and newspapers of India.
